The most popular language is English (and American English at that), but there’s 61 languages used on Twitter, which means there’s no excuse not to use it to connect with pupils right around the world.
The social media measurement company Semiocast have created some linkbait which shows the way that language is used on Twitter across the world. English is the most popular (Twitter doesn’t have an easy ride in China, don’t forget), but after that it’s Japanes, Spanish, Malay (who knew?) and Portugese.
The graphic is more for the geeks than the educationalists, but it does show that, if you want to connect your classroom to pupils across the worlds, there’s a massive range of opportunity.
